What is the recommended lubricant when installing new bay door hinges?

Lots use a soapy solution. I personally use real talcum powder - not the corn starch stuff. The channels that retain the rubber hinge should be very clear & clean.

The best lube to use on the hinges now since talcum powder is no longer available is the tire mounting soap it doesn't dry out like the Dawn soap and you have plenty of working time and is good for rubber, you can buy it in Qt cans at Napa and Amazon, a plumbing supply will have the same stuff for lubing the rubber gasket on larger pipe for water lines

While we're on the subject of slimy slippery another product that eases working getting rubber like products installed in their relative positions is electrician's wire pulling lube. It also holds it's slippery state of wet w/o evaporating dry while being worked on.
